The York makes an impression through texture. Its sleep surface is dressed in a white fabric with a pronounced bubble and bobble knit finish that gives the mattress a three-dimensional, tactile character unlike anything else in the range. Widely spaced button tufts are placed at just six points across the surface, allowing generous, deeply billowed panels to form between them, with the fabric's embossed scroll and floral motif clearly visible within each large section. The effect is a sleep surface that feels plush and deeply cushioned long before you have even lain down on it. Beneath the surface, the York is built as a hybrid, combining individually nested pocket springs with a layer of memory foam that sits above them. The pocket springs deliver independent, motion-isolating support, while the memory foam layer above adds a slow-response pressure relief that contours to your body weight and position. The two systems together produce a feel that is both supportive and exceptionally comfortable, with the memory foam softening the response of the springs and eliminating any sense of rigidity.
